Many of our families live in very poor conditions and could really benefit for the love, support and encouragement that could be given to a family in our community. Ways for serving the family may range from Financial counseling, setting up bank accounts, tutoring children, coaching basketball teams, getting beds and supplies for the children’s bedrooms, trips to the Zoo or movies or just simply spending time with the family. |

The staff of HIS Heart visits the homes and families of ministries on a regular basis. Our staff is committed to building strong relationships with the children and their families. |

Our first Bible Club family received a Habitat home in 2005. Our dream is to help other families reach a level of self – sufficiency where they can also become home owners. This is a great reason for celebration. Our second family is now living in a Habitat Home. |

The children attend choir practice and the youth attend Bible Study. The youth have opportunities to participate in youth choir, drama or praise dance classes. |

Children and youth are brought to the church to attend age appropriate Bible study and attend worship. There are is a very faithful group of around 35 to 40 who attend every Sunday. |
|
Our children and youth attend summer camps throughout the state of MS. There were 28 youth who attended youth camps this summer. Our children attended camps along with a great group that attended music camp. There were approximately 70 children and youth who attended camp in the summer of 2007. |

HIS Heart sponsors basketball teams for elementary boys and middle school and high school boys and girls. Their teams play in leagues in the metro area. Most of our children and youth do not play on school teams but are very gifted in athletics. This gives them the opportunities to learn skills and have experience in team competition.
Coaches are needed. |
|
HIS Heart has sent tutors into Barr Elementary School for seven years. These tutors are members of Calvary and many other churches. The tutors help children who are behind grade level in the areas of reading and math. The young people can attend tutoring after school in the Community Center a couple of afternoons a week. Barr Elementary School just moved from a Level Two school to a Level Four school. HIS Heart also tutors on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons for the youth in the community. Computers are provided for work with online projects. Tutors are needed to help our youth. |

HIS Heart has two Bible Clubs that meet each week in our community. We began our ministry by prayer walking in our community and meeting our neighbors. It was during these prayer walks that we felt God lead us to begin our work with the children. The Bible Clubs will soon begin their seventh year. One of our Bible Club site is a Calvary. There are 125 children on roll at the Calvary site with an average of around 70 children attending each week. We also have a partnership with St. Luther’s M. B. Church and have a Bible Club at their church each Monday. There are approximately 80 children on roll at this site with an average attendance of 50 children. The Bible Clubs provide opportunities for ministry with the whole community and with the families of the children. The staff and volunteers of HIS Heart spend time in the community visiting the homes and schools of those involved in our ministries. HIS Heart also was a catalyst in starting other Bible Clubs in the community. A Bible Club Network was formed to help encourage other churches to work together to reach the children of our community. When all the Bible Club sites are in sessions there are over 200 children involved in this ministry. Here are the sites and partners in the Bible Club Network. - HIS Heart/Calvary Baptist Church
