HIS Heart Christmas Party
Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Noon
The children and youth of our Bible Clubs will have their annual Christmas party on December 12, 2010. Each Bible Club child will be given a gift and a stocking full of goodies. If you would like to support a child for Christmas, you can do so by giving a gift of $25.00 to HIS Heart. We have an exciting, new Bible Club schedule this year. Children ages 4-12, living in the neighborhood surrounding Calvary and St. Luther's attend Bible Club on Sundays at 4:00 at St. Luther's. Children ages 4-12 living near Audubon Grove apartments, located between Robinson Road and the Metro Center, attend Bible Club on Mondays at 4:00 at the apartment complex. Youth attend Dance Class on Mondays at 4:00 at St. Luther's, followed by Bible Club at 5:00. |

HIS Heart is the Community Ministries of Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi. The motto of Calvary is “In the Heart of Jackson, for the Heart of Jackson.” Calvary began its community ministries in 1998 with a renewed commitment to stay in the inner city and minister to its community. Calvary Baptist Church is 106 years old. It has been at its present location since 1929. Calvary was the largest church in Mississippi during the 1970’s but experienced great decline in membership reflecting the change in the community surrounding the church. The church now has about 160 average attendance in Sunday School with a very large population of Special Education adults. Calvary begin its ministry to the community in faith because it seemed to be too great a task to accept considering the size of the church, the magnitude of the needs in the community and the lack of resources both financial and in manpower. However, there was a definite call from God calling us to be His witnesses in our Jerusalem. There was a decision to obey and trust God for His direction, power and provision. God has been very faithful. HIS Heart became a non-profit organization at the end of 2002. HIS Heart is supported by individuals, churches and gifts from other organizations. HIS Heart received its first grant in April of 2004. There are about 50 members of Calvary that give regularly to HIS Heart. Gifts from about 30 individuals come from outside the church. Churches who give to HIS Heart from their mission budget are Northminster Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church.
